CAMS Internships

CAMS invites interested undergraduates to pursue internships under the department’s direction. An internship is a professional development experience with an organization that will usually be external to Penn State, though some opportunities within CAMS may be available as well, depending on student interest. Internships may be paid or unpaid. In tandem with their work for the external organization, student interns enroll in CAMS 495: Internship, which allows them to earn college credit for their professional development. CAMS 495 is overseen by a CAMS faculty member, who communicates with a supervisor at the student’s employer to gauge student progress.

Organizations where CAMS students may intern include, but are not limited to:

  • Schools and educational institutions
  • Museums and cultural heritage organizations
  • Religious institutions
  • Publishers, editors, and literary agents
  • Cultural resource management (CRM) firms
  • Law firms
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
  • Government and public service opportunities

Students are also encouraged to present their own ideas to the department for further discussion.
