Biography:
Shawn Gaffney completed his undergraduate degrees in linguistics and philosophy from Umass Amherst. He studied further in linguistics (Boston College) and Egyptology (NYU), while expanding his ancient language background. He is particularly interested in Egyptian and Semitic languages, language contact, and how communities formed and maintained their identities. He has done fieldwork in Turkey and the US.
