Biography:

Bob Darrah is a graduate student in Penn State's Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies program. His research focuses on the transmission of cuneiform script across the Afro-Asiatic and Indo-European language families, tracing how a writing system developed for Sumerian was adapted and carried across the ancient Near East into languages as distinct as Akkadian, Hittite, and Elamite. Central to this work is a commitment to translating cuneiform tablets and making more of the text accessible to scholars and the public alike. He holds a BA in Classics from the University of Oregon, an MA in Comparative Literature from Penn State, and a post-baccalaureate certificate in ancient languages from Penn State. By profession, he serves as a higher-education fundraiser at Penn State.
