Sparks 121 and the Sparks foyer (NEW LOCATION)

Join CAMS faculty on March 15 and 16 for an immersive journey to discover ancient scripts, writing materials, and technologies! The entire State College and Penn State community are welcome!

On Friday, March 15, 5:30-7:00 PM, we are hosting a public lecture on the Dead Sea Scrolls by Prof. Sidnie White Crawford of the University of Nebraska: "The Qumran Collection as an Ancient Library," in Foster auditorium (102 Paterno Library). A meet-and-greet reception with Dr. Crawford and other Dead Sea Scroll experts will be held before the lecture at 4:30 PM in 102 Weaver.

And on Saturday, March 16, 1:00-4:00 PM in 102 Weaver Building, CAMS will offer a Workshop on Ancient Writing. Besides general presentations on topics for which you can register in advance (via QR code on this flyer), participants will learn about ancient writing in smaller groups dedicated to specific writing systems.  Gain hands-on experience and learn how to write cuneiform on clay, Egyptian on papyrus, Latin and Greek on wax, and Hebrew on papyrus and potsherds!

We hope you can join us!
