Biography:
Arkadina Cadena is master's student in the CAMS Department. Her area of focus is on the Sumerian and Akkadian periods of the Ancient Near East. Her research focuses on Religious Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Ancient Queer Theory. Her current research deals with the Sumerian Goddess Inanna and her worshippers and how they are viewed in context to gender identity and same-sex relationships (whether it be sexual, romantic, or both). Arkadina received her B.A. at the University of North Texas in History with a focus on the Mediterranean and a minor in Anthropology in 2025. She has presented at several conferences on her research involving Inanna and gender in the Ancient Near East. She hopes to continue her education after her master's by going on to PhD programs in the Ancient Near East or in Archaeology.
