My primary research interests lie in the reception of ancient Greek and Latin literature within medieval Ethiopic texts. My first monograph titled The Misfortunes of the Jews: Pathos and Othering in Medieval African Receptions of Josephus’s Jewish War is currently under review with Gorgias Press. In addition to medieval receptions of Josephus, I have publications and research interests in the Ethiopic receptions of ancient Jewish and Christian apocalyptic texts, the Maccabean traditions, and the legends of Alexander the Great. I am also interested in analyzing the scholarly uses of the term race over against ethnicity in the study of early Christian and Classical texts.
