In this class, we will be reading select letters of Marcus Tullius Cicero in the original Latin. The aim is to gain first-hand insights into the private life, personal contacts, and philosophical reflections of the Roman orator, to learn about the history of Latin epistolography, and to view the fall of the Roman Republic through the writings of one of its most famous eye witnesses.
